About Waterville

Waterville is a small picturesque coastal village located on the scenic and famous Ring of Kerry and Wild Atlantic Way. Its Irish name An Coireán, meaning “little cauldron” refers to the shape of Ballinskelligs Bay on which the town sits; It is renowned for its fishing and of course our golf destination Waterville Golf Links.

For a little village Waterville has a lot to offer. Beyond arguably Europe’s best salmon and deep sea Trout the area offers breathtaking trails, a paradise for the hill-walker, cyclist and horse rider. Even ornithologists and archaeologists will not leave disappointed. The Skellig Islands located 12km off the coast offer abundant birdlife including Ireland’s largest Northern Gannet population and a Christian Monastery dating back to 6th century.

Waterville enjoys an excellent reputation for fantastic restaurants and bars serving delicious local produce and the days catch straight from the ocean and the Irish atmosphere is electric with a number of events and festivals held throughout the year.

Waterville truly has to be seen to believed, as where else on earth can a town offer a statue of Charlie Chaplin and a scene from Star Wars.

You think you see breaks. You think you know how quick the greens are. You think you know where to aim. You think you know how strong the wind is. But you know what?! You are wrong! Or at least I was.  It was a great experience having a local guide. He wasn’t only...

The trip

Dublin in only 3 hours away with flight from Copenhagen. You can either take another flight to the south of Ireland or rent a car and drive for about 5 hours. We chose to drive to save some time and at the same time get a little more freedom to do what we want.
